The city that gambled and lost

Political leaders in a college town in central Texas won wide praise from former Vice President Al Gore and the larger Green Movement when they decided to go "100 percent renewable" seven years ago. Now, however, they are on the defensive over electricity costs that have their residents paying more than $1,000 per household in higher electricity charges over the last four years.

That’s right $1,219 per household in higher electricity costs for the 71,000 residents of Georgetown, Texas, all thanks to the decision of its Republican mayor, Dale Ross, to launch a bold plan to shift the city’s municipal utility to 100 percent renewable power in 2012.

In short order, Ross was elevated to celebrity status, appearing in scores of articles and videos, both at home and abroad. Al Gore made it a point to feature the Texas Republican mayor at renewable energy conferences as well. Ross was even featured in one of Gore’s documentaries.

But while Ross was being lauded far and wide, the residents of his town were paying a steep price. His decision to bet on renewables resulted in the city budget getting dinged by a total of $29.8 million in the four years from 2015 to 2018. Georgetown’s electric costs were $3.5 million over budget in 2015, ballooning to $6.3 million in 2016, the same year the mayor locked his municipal utility into 20- and 25-year wind and solar energy contracts to make good on his 100 percent renewable pledge.

By 2017, the mayor’s green gamble was undercut by the cheap natural gas prices brought about by the revolution in high-tech fracking. Power that year cost the city’s budget $9.5 million more than expected, rising to $10.5 million last year, according to budget documents reported by The Williamson County Sun.

FBI ignored evidence, conveniently

Congressional investigators have gathered enough evidence to suggest that the FBI, under the Obama administration, ignored a major lead in the Clinton-email probe, according to transcripts of closed-door testimonies of several current and former bureau officials.

The office of the Intelligence Community Inspector General informed the FBI in 2015 that a forensic review of Hillary Clinton’s emails unearthed anomalies in the metadata of the messages. The evidence in the metadata suggested that a copy of every email Hillary Clinton sent during her tenure as the secretary of state was forwarded to a foreign third party.

The existence of the lead was first revealed during the public testimony of Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General Michael Horowitz in June last year. Horowitz acknowledged the existence of the specific lead and said he spoke about it to Intelligence Community Inspector General (ICIG) Charles McCullough. Yet, despite the alarming nature of the referral, Horowitz’s 568-page report on the FBI’s handling the Clinton-email investigation made no mention of the lead or how the bureau handled it. The omission caught the attention of Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), who pressed Horowitz for an explanation. Horowitz said he would get back to the committee with answers.

It’s unclear if Horowitz ever followed up on that promise. Meadows went on to question several current and former FBI officials about the lead, including Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, Bill Priestap, Jonathan Moffa, John Giacolone, and James Comey. In all of the interviews, transcripts of which were reviewed for this article, the officials claimed to remember nothing about the specific referral from the ICIG, suggesting that the lead was either suppressed or ignored by investigators.

Even the Democrats are tired of Ocasio-Cortez

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has infuriated colleagues by aligning with a progressive outside group that’s threatening to primary entrenched Democrats. Now some of those lawmakers are turning the tables on her and are discussing recruiting a primary challenger to run against the social media sensation.

At least one House Democrat has been privately urging members of the New York delegation to recruit a local politician from the Bronx or Queens to challenge Ocasio-Cortez.

"What I have recommended to the New York delegation is that you find her a primary opponent and make her a one-term congressperson," the Democratic lawmaker, who requested anonymity, told The Hill. "You’ve got numerous council people and state legislators who’ve been waiting 20 years for that seat. I’m sure they can find numerous people who want that seat in that district."

The New York delegation has eyed Ocasio-Cortez with skepticism ever since last summer when the 29-year-old self-described democratic socialist shocked the political world and defeated then-Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.) in what many thought would be a sleepy primary race. Crowley, a Queens powerbroker and affable House Democratic Caucus chairman, had been considered a possible future Speaker.

Grim progressives are not your father's Democrats

The old Democratic party championed the working classes, wanted secure borders to protect middle-class union wage earners, and focused generous federal entitlement help on the citizen poor. Civil rights were defined as equality of opportunity for all.

That party is long dead. An updated Hubert Humphrey or even Bill Clinton would not recognize any of the present "Democrats."

Even the old wing of elite liberals is mostly long gone, with its talk of legal immigration only, opposition to censorship, pro-Israel foreign policy, let-it-hang-out Sixties indulgence, and free speech.

It was superseded by grim progressives who are not so much interested in a square, new, or fair deal for the middle classes, as an entirely different deal that redefines everything from the Bill of Rights and the very way we elect presidents and senators to an embrace of identity politics as its first principle.

Indeed, we are currently witnessing a quite strange series of North Koreanlike reeducation confessionals, from repenting erstwhile liberals and now presidential hopefuls such as Joe Biden, Tulsi Gabbard, Kamala Harris, and Kirsten Gillibrand. They and other would-be candidates parade before show cameras to apologize for their prior incorrect heresies, including their erstwhile support for drug laws, tough sentencing, and border enforcement.

Pope says older married men could be priests

Pope Francis said Sunday that while he would not consider making celibacy optional for priests, he would consider letting older married men become ordained.

Francis made the clarification during his trip to Panama to oversee the Church’s World Youth Day, saying that ordaining older married men as priests is something to consider in cases where there are not enough available priests. The pontiff added that he had not contemplated the matter or prayed about it enough to issue a concrete statement on exceptions to celibacy in the priesthood.

"I believe that the issue must be open in this sense: where there is a pastoral problem because of the lack of priests," Francis said, according to National Catholic Reporter. "I will not say that it must be done. Because I have not reflected, I have not prayed sufficiently over this. But the theologians must study."

Francis’s comments came in response to speculation that he would address the issue of celibacy during the upcoming Vatican summit on sexual abuse and questions as to whether optional celibacy for priests may be in the church’s future. Francis said he would rather die than change current church policy on celibacy.

Most popular name in Oslo

Norway’s fertility rates have reached all-time lows, risking the country’s economic stability. Muslim immigrants are keeping the labour force alive, as the country undergoes demographic changes.

Muhammad was the most popular name among male children in Oslo in 2018, for the 11th year in a row, according to statistics released on Wednesday by the Norwegian Statistics Department.

The name, with its many variations, surpassed Oscar, Aksel and Jacob as it maintained its lead.

Mohammad has been the most popular name in Oslo since 2008, reflecting a strong and growing Muslim community in the large city.

In 2017, 8.7 percent of Oslo’s population identified as Muslims, with their largest communities originating from ethnic Pakistanis, Somalis, Iraqis and Morrocans.

Nearly 40,000 Norwegian Pakistanis make up the largest ethnic group among Norwegian Muslims. Many migrated to the country as guest workers in the 1960s to 1970s and played a significant role in the country’s construction and development.

Oslo is home to the largest immigrant population in the country. Out of Oslo’s 624,000 residents, almost 190,000 are immigrants or born to immigrant parents, making up nearly 31 percent of the city’s population.

The military and menstrual cycles

America has become so polarized and choked by political correctness, that we find ourselves unable to address topics that maybe need investigating or just a simple discussion.

The whole concept of Free Speech in America is pretty much a joke. Free Speech only exists if you speak about things the audience agrees with. If they don’t agree with you, they’ll implement tactics from the book "Rules for Radicals" to interfere or shutdown your attempt to speak.

We are way past the question of whether women should be in the military. They are in the military, and have always been in the military from the very foundation of America. American women in combat can be traced back to the American Revolution.

There were approximately 203,000 women on active duty in 2011, or 14.5% of the total active-duty force of nearly 1.4 million. The number of women in the military is approximately…

74,000 in the Army,
53,000 in the Navy,
62,000 in the Air Force and
14,000 in the Marine Corps.

There are those people who believe that having women in the military is wrong because it’s a distraction that is costly and in certain situations, dangerous. Since the door to the military was finally flung open to women, how many have become pregnant within the first four years of active duty? The cost in both money and readiness is enormous.

Reason #4589 why the 3rd world remains 3rd world

An African practice of "ironing" a girl’s chest with a hot stone to delay breast formation is spreading in the UK, with anecdotal evidence of dozens of recent cases, a Guardian investigation has established.

Community workers in London, Yorkshire, Essex and the West Midlands have told the Guardian of cases in which pre-teen girls from the diaspora of several African countries are subjected to the painful, abusive and ultimately futile practice.

Margaret Nyuydzewira, head of the diaspora group the Came Women and Girls Development Organisation (Cawogido), estimated that at least 1,000 women and girls in the UK had been subjected to the intervention. There has been no systematic study or formal data collection exercise.

Another community activist, who did not wish to be named, said she was aware of 15-20 recent cases in Croydon alone.

"It’s usually done in the UK, not abroad like female genital mutilation (FGM)," she said, describing a practice whereby mothers, aunties or grandmothers use a hot stone to massage across the breast repeatedly in order to "break the tissue" and slow its growth.

"Sometimes they do it once a week, or once every two weeks, depending on how it comes back," she added.

Flood of sick migrants

Border Patrol agents have spent nearly 20,000 hours since October driving asylum seekers to and from hospitals for medical evaluations, according to newly released Department of Homeland Security data.

Since Oct. 1, 2018, the Border Patrol, which works in rural areas between border crossings, has "seen an increase in the numbers of apprehended individuals requiring medical assistance."

A total of 2,224 migrants, primarily from Guatemala and Honduras, have been hospitalized due to health issues that could not be treated on site in the last month alone, according to a CBP statement.

The department said the spike in illnesses among migrants is forcing federal law enforcement to spend less time focused on serious threats because they are facilitating hospital and urgent care trips. It’s also affecting communities that are trying to help with medical emergencies but are severely short-staffed.

For example, Hidalgo County, located in the southernmost part of New Mexico, is comprised of fewer than 5,000 residents. The average resident makes $32,000 a year, and the low incomes mean the county has less money to use. Its general budget is just $1.7 million.

The beginning of political correctness

In 1726 Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels gave us a brilliant satire of the folly of research divorced from common sense, practicality, and reality. When Gulliver visits the Grand Academy of Lagado, he finds "Projectors" busy with research projects like extracting sunbeams from cucumbers, building houses from the roof down, and converting excrement back to food.

It’s hard not to think about Swift’s Projectors when you consider today’s loony ideas driving our social mores and even laws. And for that we can thank our universities, where most of these preposterous notions have their genesis. Multiple "gender" identities, "toxic masculinity," "microaggressions," and occult "racism" are just a few examples of speculative nonsense that have escaped the university asylum and now roil our politics and infect our laws.

Like most social and political dysfunctions, this degradation of the university is a product of the Sixties. Professors always have had political and ideological preferences, but in the Sixties, universities institutionalized left-wing identity politics in various "studies" departments and programs. Yet faced with aggressive public complaints that women and minorities had been ignored in academic research and teaching, administrators did not address the alleged shortcomings in their curricula from within the protocols of university disciplines like English or history. For example, the topics of black or female history, literature, or social history should be studied with the same professional methodologies and protocols that govern those disciplines. Training in those professional standards could then become the foundation of research and teaching, subject to the professional oversight and judgment of similarly trained peers.

Rather than adjusting and correcting curricula within the framework of existing disciplines, however, universities simply created separate but equal academic sandboxes to quiet noisy activists and buy (they thought) some peace and quiet. Nor did they consider the consequences of sacrificing professional standards in order to display their political correctness.

Easy to enter and stay in the U.S.

Voters still think it’s easier to enter and stay in the United States illegally than it is in most other countries.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 42% of Likely U.S. Voters believe it is easier to enter the United States illegally compared to most other nations in the world. Just 19% say it’s harder, while 26% think the level of difficulty is about the same. Thirteen percent (13%) are not sure.

Rasmussen Reports updates are also available on Twitter or Facebook.

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on January 22-23, 2019 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.

Equality of the law

The issues of special Robert Mueller’s indictment of Roger Stone have nothing to do with his personal life. His sexual habits should be of no concern to anyone. And what is so funny about the Internet jokes about (a still presumed innocent) Stone enjoying rape once he’s in prison?

The issues are instead threefold: One, given that Stone has said so many contradictory things, were his public statements lies and his sworn statements true, vice versa, neither or both?

Two, why after 21 months, is the special counsel still hounding minor transitory Trump officials (Stone was fired from the Trump campaign way back in August 2015) in hopes of flipping them to find proof of almost anything against Trump? Stone, like all other Americans indicted by Mueller so far, is not charged with any crime close to "collusion." We are now well past the descent of this investigation into "show me the man, and I’ll show the crime."

Three, the Stone indictment raises real questions of equality under the law.

If Stone lied under oath to Congress as Mueller alleges, then by all means prosecute him to the fullest.

But what exactly are the federal criteria that adjudicate when and where lying under oath to Congress or to federal authorities is a prosecutable crime? Is it perceived useful only in Robert Muller’s hunt for incriminating evidence against Trump, as in the case of Michael Flynn?

After all, nearly the entire Obama administration intelligence hierarchy not only lied under oath to Congress, but in some cases confessed to such.

White slavery

During the 1650s, over 100,000 Irish children aged 10 to 14 were taken from their parents and sold as slaves in the West Indies, Virginia and New England. In this decade, 52,000 Irish (mostly women and children) were sold to Barbados and Virginia. Still 30,000 Irish men and women were also transported and sold to the highest bidder. In 1656, Cromwell ordered that 2000 Irish children be taken to Jamaica and sold as slaves to English settlers. Many people today avoid calling the Irish slaves called what they really were: Slaves. They use words such as "indentured servants" to describe what happened to the Irish. However, in most cases from the 17th and 18th centuries, Irish slaves were nothing more than human cattle.

The Irish Slave Trade The Forgotten "White" Slaves The Slaves That Time Forgot.

They came as slaves; vast human cargo transported on tall British ships bound for the Americas. They were shipped by the hundreds of thousands and included men, women, and even the youngest of children. Whenever they rebelled or even disobeyed an order, they were punished in the harshest ways. Slave owners would hang their human property by their hands and set their hands or feet on fire as one form of punishment.

They were burned alive and had their heads placed on pikes in the marketplace as a warning to other captives. We don’t really need to go through all of the gory details, do we? We know all too well the atrocities of the African slave trade. But, are we talking about African slavery? King James II and Charles I also led a continued effort to enslave the Irish. Britain’s famed Oliver Cromwell furthered this practice of dehumanizing one’s next door neighbor. The Irish slave trade began when James II sold 30,000 Irish prisoners as slaves to the New World. His Proclamation of 1625 required Irish political prisoners be sent overseas and sold to English settlers in the West Indies.

By the mid 1600s, the Irish were the main slaves sold to Antigua and Montserrat. At that time, 70% of the total population of Montserrat were Irish slaves. Ireland quickly became the biggest source of human livestock for English merchants. The majority of the early slaves to the New World were actually white. From 1641 to 1652, over 500,000 Irish were killed by the English and another 300,000 were sold as slaves. Ireland’s population fell from about 1,500,000 to 600,000 in one single decade. Families were ripped apart as the British did not allow Irish dads to take their wives and children with them across the Atlantic. This led to a helpless population of homeless women and children. Britain’s solution was to auction them off as well. During the 1650s, over 100,000 Irish children between the ages of 10 and 14 were taken from their parents and sold as slaves in the West Indies, Virginia and New England. In this decade, 52,000 Irish (mostly women and children) were sold to Barbados and Virginia. Another 30,000 Irish men and women were also transported and sold to the highest bidder. In 1656, Cromwell ordered that 2000 Irish children be taken to Jamaica and sold as slaves to English settlers. Many people today will avoid calling the Irish slaves what they truly were: Slaves. They’ll come up with terms like "Indentured Servants" to describe what occurred to the Irish.

However, in most cases from the 17th and 18th centuries, Irish slaves were nothing more than human cattle. As an example, the African slave trade was just beginning during this same period. It is well recorded that African slaves, not tainted with the stain of the hated Catholic theology and more expensive to purchase, were often treated far better than their Irish counterparts. African slaves were very expensive during the late 1600s (50 Sterling). Irish slaves came cheap (no more than 5 Sterling). If a planter whipped or branded or beat an Irish slave to death, it was never a crime. A death was a monetary setback, but far cheaper than killing a more expensive African.

The English masters quickly began breeding the Irish women for both their own personal pleasure and for greater profit. Children of slaves were themselves slaves, which increased the size of the master’s free workforce. Even if an Irish woman somehow obtained her freedom, her kids would remain slaves of her master. Thus, Irish moms, even with this new found emancipation, would seldom abandon their kids and would remain in servitude. In time, the English thought of a better way to use these women (in many cases, girls as young as 12) to increase their market share: The settlers began to breed Irish women and girls with African men to produce slaves with a distinct complexion.

These new "mulatto" slaves brought a higher price than Irish livestock and, likewise, enabled the settlers to save money rather than purchase new African slaves. This practice of interbreeding Irish females with African men went on for several decades and was so widespread that, in 1681, legislation was passed "forbidding the practice of mating Irish slave women to African slave men for the purpose of producing slaves for sale." In short, it was stopped only because it interfered with the profits of a large slave transport company. England continued to ship tens of thousands of Irish slaves for more than a century. Records state that, after the 1798 Irish Rebellion, thousands of Irish slaves were sold to both America and Australia.

There were horrible abuses of both African and Irish captives. One British ship even dumped 1,302 slaves into the Atlantic Ocean so that the crew would have plenty of food to eat. There is little question that the Irish experienced the horrors of slavery as much (if not more in the 17th Century) as the Africans did. There is, also, very little question that those brown, tanned faces you witness in your travels to the West Indies are very likely a combination of African and Irish ancestry. In 1839, Britain finally decided on it’s own to end it’s participation in Satan’s highway to hell and stopped transporting slaves. While their decision did not stop pirates from doing what they desired, the new law slowly concluded THIS chapter of nightmarish Irish misery.

But, if anyone, black or white, believes that slavery was only an African experience, then they’ve got it completely wrong. Irish slavery is a subject worth remembering, not erasing from our memories. But, where has this ever been taught in our public (and PRIVATE) schools???? Where are stories of Irish Slavery in the history books? Why is it so seldom discussed? Do the memories of hundreds of thousands of Irish victims merit more than a mention from an unknown writer? Or is their story to be one that their English pirates intended: have the Irish story utterly and completely disappear as if it never happened. None of the Irish victims ever made it back to their homeland to describe their ordeal.

These are the lost slaves; the ones that time and biased history books conveniently forgot.

Asset forfeiture

History is very short, if you look at it the right way.

The American Revolution seems like it was a very long time ago, but looked at with the right kind of eyes, it was the day before yesterday: The revolution of Washington and Jefferson inspired the French Revolution, which unhappily perverted the classical-liberal principles of the American Founders and created instead an ersatz religion purporting to be a cult of pure reason le Culte de la Raison which culminated in fanaticism, terror, and dictatorship. The French Revolution inspired the Russian Revolution, which created its own cult of pure reason "scientific socialism" and modeled its "enemies of the people" purges on French revolutionary practice, culminating in fanaticism, terror, and dictatorship. The Russian Revolution in turn inspired the Iranian one, which had intellectual roots in the Bolshevik experience in the Caucasus and culminated in fanaticism, terror, and dictatorship. The Iranians exported many of their revolutionary principles to Hugo Chávez, his United Socialist party, and their so-called Bolivarian Revolution (whose colectiovos gangs were modeled on Iran’s basji militias) which culminated in fanaticism, terror, and dictatorship, currently on particularly dramatic display.

In most cases, the revolution begins with a peasant prelude and reaches its crescendo with some variation on the theme of Napoleon; socialist revolutions in particular have a peculiar habit of beginning with a man in a work shirt and ending up with a man dressed like Cap’n Crunch. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro does look a sight in his beauty-pageant sash and Mr. T-worthy gold chains. The people who endure his socialist government are eating zoo animals and pets in what was the richest country in South America.

Elizabeth Warren is going to look terrific in those mirrored aviator sunglasses and peaked captain’s hat. She’s spent half her life playing dress-up, morally pretending to be an Indian so she may as well dress the part of her aspirations. "Who are you wearing to the state dinner? Oscar de la Renta? Prada? Pinochet?"

The Dutch

The Netherlands is a profoundly hypocritical society. To prove such a statement in detail would require a lengthy book. One shortcut to support this claim is to look at the history of the relationship between Dutch Jews and the society at large.

The extreme behavior of the Dutch is not readily visible. The Netherlands isn’t particularly hospitable to its Jews, but neither can one rank its attitude towards them among Europe’s worst. Only a handful of foreign correspondents are based in the country, so negative aspects of the Netherlands rarely make it into the international media.

In May 1940, the Netherlands was occupied by the invading Germans within a matter of days. In the years to follow, more than 70% of its 140,000-strong Jewish population were murdered after having been sent to German camps, mainly in Poland. In the preparatory activities for what would lead to genocide, the Dutch authorities followed Nazi orders. Dutch police arrested Jews, including babies, simply for being Jews. Dutch railways transported Jews to the Dutch transit camp Westerbork, and from there to the German border. Dutch police guarded the Jews in the camp.

The Dutch government in exile in London gave no instructions to the bureaucracy in their occupied country. One government employee in London, Henri Dentz, wrote a report in December 1943 that stated that most Dutch Jews had already been murdered. This report was sent to all ministries and to a number of other Dutch institutions in London, including the Red Cross. After the war, Dentz testified that nobody wanted to read it.

Voter fraud in Texas

The Texas secretary of state's office announced Friday it would send local election officials a list of 95,000 registered voters who the state says counties should consider checking to see whether they are U.S. citizens and, therefore, legally eligible to vote.

In an advisory released Friday afternoon, the office said it was flagging individuals who had provided the Texas Department of Public Safety with some form of documentation including a work visa or a green card that showed they were not a citizen when they were obtaining a driver’s license or an ID card. Among the individuals flagged, about 58,000 individuals cast a ballot in one or more elections from 1996 to 2018, the secretary of state's office said.

It’s unclear exactly how many of those individuals are not actually U.S. citizens and whether that number will be available in the future. In its notice to counties, the secretary of state's office said the names should be considered "WEAK" matches, using all capital letters for emphasis.

That means counties may now choose to investigate the eligibility of the individuals who were flagged, which would require them to send a notice asking for proof of citizenship within 30 days, or take no action. By law, the counties aren't allowed to automatically revoke a voter's registration without sending out such a notice.

It's possible that individuals flagged by the state who provided DPS with documentation that indicated they were authorized to be in the country could have become naturalized citizens since they obtained their driver's license or ID card. A spokesman for the secretary of state said officials are "very confident" that the data received from DPS is "current."

Sen. Graham's priorities

Since taking over three weeks ago as chairman for the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Lindsey Graham has already staked out several key priorities for the committee. The list will please conservatives: confirm more judges and investigate the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI for their handling of the Russia collusion investigation, the Hillary Clinton email investigation, and the use of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to obtain a warrant to surveil former Trump campaign aid Carter Page.

Yet Graham has so far omitted an equally significant area of inquiry for the Senate Judiciary Committee: the possible criminal conduct undertaken to thwart the confirmation of now-Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

The public may have quickly forgotten the month-long spectacle that began after news broke on September 12, 2017five days after the Senate Judiciary Committee had concluded hearings on Kavanaugh’s nominationthat an unnamed woman had sent Sen. Dianne Feinstein a letter accusing Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct. The following day, Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, issued a terse press release confirming that she had "received information from an individual concerning the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court."

Feinstein’s three-sentence statement provided no details, asserting that the accuser had requested confidentiality. Feinstein added that she had "referred the matter to federal investigative authorities."

War on Christianity

The left wants to penalize Christians for their faith. The most recent example is the freakout over the vice president’s wife, Karen Pence, teaching part-time at a Christian school that holds students and staff to traditional Christian standards of doctrine and conduct, including sexual conduct.

These requirements are not exceptional among Christian schools (and those of other religions often have similar restrictions), but they have been treated as the vilest bigotry, deserving censure and punishment. CNN’s John King even suggested that teaching at this school should mean forfeiting Pence’s government-provided security.

As a practical pastoral matter, the school is almost certainly more focused on fornication and adultery than on denouncing sodomy. But the media is obsessed over the aspects of traditional Christian sexual ethics that relate to LGBT identity and actions.

The Washington Post, for example, flatly asserts that Pence has been hired by an "anti-LGBT Christian school" that "seeks to exclude homosexual and transgender students and staff members"as an aside, note how LGBT ideology sexualizes children and defines them by their still-developing sense of sexualitybut that is not how traditional Christians view these matters.

Quote of the day

Trump's son speaks out

America just got its best look ever at the true face of "fake news" when journalists set their sights on a group of teenagers from Kentucky.

The story of the great Covington Catholic High School hoax came hot on the heels of another fake news scandal. Just days before, Buzzfeed News printed an anonymously-sourced story about my father, the President of the United States, committing a federal felony and telling Michael Cohen to lie before Congress. The story was so fake that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s own office thought it was their duty to step in and inform the public of its inaccuracy.

Undaunted by that humiliation, liberal journalists and professional left-wing activists rushed to judgment about the Covington students the very next day, depicting them as unrepentant racists and even calling for people to dox, harass, and attack them.

My father and I are used to enduring these sorts of outrageous attacks from liberal journalists. We’ve been public figures for decades, and we know how these people operate.

CNN, for instance, ran an equally fake story about me last August, in which their own source for the story went on the record admitting that he lied to them and the story was untrue. Did CNN have the honor to apologize to me for running a false story? Of course not. In fact, they refused even to retract it! The year before that, they ran a false story claiming that Wikileaks gave me advance knowledge about Hillary Clinton’s hacked emails. Once again the story was untrue, and at least this time CNN walked the story back, but only after they spent a full day spreading the lie non-stop to their audience.

Science by fiat

A storm, methinks, is just over the horizon: The genetics of intelligence, perhaps of behavior. Geneticists know that intelligence is largely genetic. They know better than to say so. But research advances rapidly. Laboratories close in on the responsible genes. Things like genomic-sequence correlation proceed apace. Within ten or fifteen years, I will guess, the genetics of IQ will be firmly established. If the results turn out as seems likely…then what? What does a pseudodemocracy do when clearly stratified by intellectual capacity?

The mainstream media seem to sense the danger. We see descriptions of genetics as "pseudoscience," hear muttering about "scientific racism" and eugenics and just like Hitler. This is the bleating of child minds. Genetics is absolutely mainstream science. Following the field requires some knowledge of biochemistry which requires some knowledge of organic chemistry which requires some knowledge of general chemistry and some knowledge of eighth-grade algebra. Since few, even among the bright, wield these credentials, the public can still be told that genetics is racism. This won’t last.

The growing panic surfaced in the recent stripping of honors from James Watson, co-discoverer of the DNA helix. His sin? He said that the measured gap in intelligence between blacks and whites is genetic. For this he was silenced. It is science by fiat, Lysenkoism.

The hostility to genetics springs entirely from the fear that Mr. Watson will be proved rightthat it will show blacks to be less intelligent than whites. Of course the politically correct don’t really believe in the intellectual equality of the races. If they did, they would welcome genetic research as a way of establishing the equality. You do not fear investigation unless you suspect it will give the wrong answer.

Pants on fire

Days after Nathan Phillips’ story of his confrontation with a group of students in Washington was thoroughly discredited, many on the left are still rallying behind him, pretending he was somehow a victim.

This, even after both the New York Times and the Washington Post had to publish not just "clarifications" about the incident itself, but even corrections of his claim to be a Vietnam, or "Vietnam times," veteran. (Turns out he was a stateside refrigerator technician, and frequently AWOL.)

It also turns out Phillips made nearly identical allegations against a few college students four years ago.

Yet the instant a single video of this incident hit Twitter, journalists jumped to uncritically accept Phillips’ account of how a mob of MAGA-hat-wearing white teens surrounded and taunted him. After all, the image exploited reporters’ preconceptions: Here was an aged Native American surrounded by a pack of smirking pro-Trump teens.

But full videos of the incident soon showed he was lying: He was the one who confronted the students, unprovoked, beating a drum just inches from their faces.

Sinkholes in Tehran

Fissures appear along roads while massive holes open up in the countryside, their gaping maws a visible sign from the air of something Iranian authorities now openly acknowledge: the area around Tehran is literally sinking.

Stressed by a 30-year drought and hollowed by excessive water pumping, the parched landscape around Iran's capital has begun to sink dramatically. Seen by satellite and on foot around the city, officials warn that what they call land subsidence poses a grave danger to a country where protests over water scarcity have already seen violence.

"Land subsidence is a destructive phenomenon," said Siavash Arabi, a measurement expert at Iran's cartography department. "Its impact may not be immediately felt like an earthquake, but as you can see, it can gradually cause destructive changes over time."

He said he can identify "destruction of farmland, the cracks of the earth's surface, damage to civilian areas in cities, wastewater lines, cracks in roads and damages to water and natural gas pipes."

Tehran, which sits 1,200 meters (3,900 feet) above sea level against the Alborz Mountains on a plateau, has rapidly grown over the last 100 years to a sprawling city of 13 million people in its metropolitan area.

Assassination, anyone?

Curious events indicate (another) Deep State assassination attempt was thwarted. If events on the main stage seem peculiar, it would be a thrill to see behind the scenes. The timeline of circumstantial evidence looks a little like this:

Jan 3, 2019: Pelosi invited President Trump to address Congress for the annual State of the Union address, designating the date for January 29. President Trump accepted the invitation.

Jan 16: Pelosi sent a letter to POTUS asking him to postpone his State of the Union Address or to submit it in writing.

It’s thirteen days before the SOTU. This implies Pelosi did not anticipate the government shutdown to be resolved in the next almost two weeks?
Knowing the nature of President Trump, she most likely anticipates a refusal to this request.

She cites "security concerns" because of the partial government shutdown affecting the Secret Service and Department of Homeland Security. However, she has not checked with either of those departments.

The shutdown is because an agreement for funding the wall for national security on the border has not been arrived at. The irony of citing security issues (for government officials) while ignoring the security issues of Americans is hard to dismiss.

Jan 16, 11:25am: Department of Homeland Security Secretary Nielsen tweeted that both HS and the USSS are "fully prepared to support and secure the State of the Union." This indicates Pelosi has spoken on behalf of those departments and is in error.

Getting rid of aid groups

For 26 years, Handicap International has not only been providing crutches, prosthetics and wheelchairs to people with disabilities in Burundi, it has also been a leading advocate for people with disabilities in the country. Much of its work has focused on helping people get physical therapy, accessible housing and jobs.

But all of that is over now.

HI has been ordered by the government to stop its work in Burundi in a dispute over ethnic quotas. The government is requiring all foreign aid groups to commit to having 60 percent of their local employees be Hutus and 40 percent Tutsis the quota for government agencies. The government is also demanding that foreign charities provide staff lists specifically identifying employees by their ethnicity. Rather than comply, Handicap International (which just recently changed its name to Humanity & Inclusion) is laying off all 105 of its local employees, shutting down its operations and pulling out of the central African nation.

Two other organizations human rights group Avocats Sans Frontieres and a Belgian NGO called RCN Justice & Democratie have announced that they're also departing over the new requirements.

Leftists control almost everything

Usually, when you seek to take over something, you try not destroy it in the process of acquiring it. For example, if you’re trying to rise up the ranks of an organization, you don’t want to discredit the organization in the process. What’s the point of rising up the ranks, if the post you finally attain has been made worthless? This "conservative" instinct becomes stronger once you have gained control of whatever it was you were after. Now it is yours and you do what you must to protect and increase its value.

For example, when the Left took over the institutions of the American ruling elite, they were careful to not destroy them in the process. They destroyed the people in their way, for sure, but they were careful to avoid damaging the institutions too much. In fact, they worked to increase the power of the government, the schools and the colleges once they gained power over them. Today, logic says the Left should be extremely conservative, not wanting to alter anything, for fear of diminishing the power of what they have.

That’s the curious thing about what we are seeing from the Left. They have a firm grip on all of the institutions of the empire. They control the mass media. They control the administrative state and the education system. Global corporations are now run by people deeply invested in virtue signaling. The days of the Left having to pressure big business to do their bidding are long over. Big business is the vanguard of the Left now. Despite this, the Left is running around trying to scramble all of the rules.

Crime in the Israeli Arab community

Despite a plateau in the number of killings in Israel’s Arab community in 2018, over the last few years there has been a major spike in the homicide rate. Last year, 70 Arab-Israelis were murdered, according to the Israel Police, whereas in the four proceeding years their incidence increased significantly from 56 to 72.

Moreover, between 2014 and 2016 ninety-five percent of murder suspects in residential areas were Arab, according to a 2018 report released by the state comptroller. Arabs make up around 20 percent of Israel’s population.

Nearly half of all Israeli women killed in 2018 were Arab, whose lives are ended at nearly double the rate of the general population, the report found. This is in part due to "honor killings," which typically involve a male murdering a female relative over a perceived shame inflicted on the family.

The recent rise in the number of murders is part of an increase in crime in general, a trend described as a "social disaster" by Anton Goodman, Director of Development at the Abraham Fund Initiatives, a not-for-profit that aims to foster co-existence between Jews and Arabs.

"There is chronic unemployment, poverty [in Arab towns]it is a petri dish for law-breaking," he stressed to The Media Line.

Democrats want to abolish Constitution

What do the Senate and the Supreme Court have in common? Yes, quite obviously, they are both parts of the American government, the Senate constituting half of the legislative branch, the Supreme Court the judicial branch. Something else the two have in common is that they are currently controlled (to the extent that the high court can be said to "controlled") by the Republicans.

Which brings up yet a third thing they have in common. Democrats, who now control the other half of the legislative branch, want to abolish both, along with the Electoral College and the Constitution.

No doubt the Left’s disaffection with the Supreme Court began during the emotionally charged confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh and has since festered with talk of Ruth Bader Ginsburg's health and likely departure in the months ahead, which would open the door to a third Trump appointee.

Dems’ ideological concerns were enough to prompt Vox to publish an article titled "The case for abolishing the Supreme Court," which grimly observed:

[T]he Court is now a blunt political instrument, used repeatedly to undermine outcomes of democratic governance often on behalf of corporate interests. And the recent disaster that was the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation has further delegitimized the Court in the public’s mind.

Normalizing white hostility to immigrants

Think of Denmark and you probably conjure up a mix of mid-century design, hygge, and people riding bikes. But as viewers of the noir TV series The Bridge know, it’s also a country marred by institutional xenophobia. Denmark has a network of camps and detention centers for asylum seekers. It has legally defined ghettoes, meaning urban areas with populations of "non-Western immigrants."

But while something is clearly rotten in the state of Denmark, it’s far from an exception in Western politics. What’s happening in this former bastion of liberalism is the normalizing of white hostility to immigration. Denmark is building on Australian and Israeli tactics to form a new strategy: to disappear the refugee from society.

The Danish immigration minister Inger Støjberg has said that she intends to make conditions for people in the asylum system unbearable. And if my recent visit to Sjælsmark Detention Center, outside Copenhagen, is anything to judge by, she’s succeeding.

Sjælsmark contains people whose applications for asylum have been rejected but cannot be returned to their country of origin (technically "non-deportable rejected asylum seekers," according to EU law). The upscale suburb has no shops or other amenities for the detainees. It is suitably remote from the city, nearly two hours by two buses and a train. By car, it’s just 30 minutes, but no one has a car.

Paying them to go home

The Czech Republic is launching a programme to pay non-EU migrants to go home, noting that funding the scheme would cost taxpayers "far less" than if migrant groups remained in the country.

With an information campaign set to be put out on social media and with leaflets and posters from April, the Czech Interior Ministry said it hopes the first migrants participating in its new programme, titled ‘Návraty’ (Returns), will be processed in the third quarter of 2019.

With a particular focus on migrants from Afghanistan, Iraq, Nigeria, Russia, and Vietnam, the programme will offer foreign nationals up to 4,000 euros’ financial assistance towards transportation costs, setting up accommodation in their homelands, and purchasing livestock.

"The project should focus on all categories of foreigners, whether they are in the Czech Republic in an illegal situation or an asylum seeker," Interior Ministry spokesman Hana Malá told

Three-quarters of the 2.3 million euros currently allocated for the scheme will be paid for out of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF), local media said, reporting applicants will have to promise not to return to Czechia nor to any other EU country, in order to be eligible for the financial assistance.

How's about a race war?

The political news media and their Democrat BFFs are doing everything in their power to start a race war in America.

Whether it’s intentional or not is of zero consequence.

Their goal, as has been the case throughout modernity, is to destroy conservatism while promoting leftism. But in pursuing that goal the media and Democrats have ratcheted up their dishonest and disingenuous race pandering to historically irresponsible and destructive levels.

This author has long highlighted the plain sight bigotry of the [historically consistent] Democrat party, and their media allies. These people who purport to want unity and equality while combating racism demand that we place a higher premium on skin color than on character. They say that if you claim to be colorblind, then you’re the racist. And they say the only people fighting racism are the ones who explicitly engage in it by judging skin color before anything else.

They tell us that it’s good to teach kids to focus heavily skin color. They tell white kids that their opinions aren’t as valuable as brown kids’, and that brown people need pity in order to succeed in America. They don’t use those explicit terms but that’s exactly what’s implied in their "social justice" lessons.

Nathan Phillips is a lib hero.....He claimed he was a Recon Ranger there is no such thing as a Marine Recon Ranger, Rangers are in the Army. Retired US Navy SEAL Don Shipley, who is known for publicly outing people for ‘stolen valor,’ obtained Nathan Phillips’ DD-214 form and exposed the truth. Nathan Phillips was enlisted under the name Nathaniel Richard Stanard.
"Nathaniel Phillips enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves on May 20th, 1972 and served until May 5th, 1976," Don Shipley said as he read the DD-214 form.

"He served under just four years and was discharged at the exalted rank of ‘Private'" Shipley said sarcastically. Shipley continued, "His entire military education was as a basic electrician in the Marine Corps while he served in Lincoln, Nebraska, he served as a refer mach."
Nathan Phillips went AWOL THREE TIMES while he was stationed at El Toro Marine Base in Southern California, according to his DD-214 form.

He enlisted into the Marine Corps Reserves using his adopted name Nathaniel Richard Stanard and served from 1972 to 1976. He was never stationed outside the CONUS (lower 48).
He was AWOL three times and discharged as an E-1.

Former Navy SEAL and stolen valor hunter Don Shipley has secured the "wise elder" Nathan Phillips (AKA: Nathan Stanard) military personnel jacket. It is not un-common for bad conduct discharges to change their name. He was a Marine Reservist, a refrigeration specialist/electrician (not Recon/Ranger), never stepped foot in Vietnam, went AWOL multiple times and was kicked out of the United States Marine Corp as an E-1. There is nothing honorable about his time in uniform as the mainstream media reported. I cannot in good faith call what he did service. Facts matter. Mr Phillips/Standard is a professional agitator of the far-left who sought publicity at the expensive of a teenage boy. Well buddy, you got some.

Christian genocide

The Christian population that had made up one fifth of the Ottoman Empire’s population was wiped out in waves of violence by successive Ottoman and Turkish republican governments that left Christians a tiny minority in Anatolia, two Israeli scholars have said in a new study.

The controversy over the killings of the Armenian Christian minority living in Anatolia during the last days of the Ottoman Empire is already well known while the majority of the scholarly community and many international states recognise the killings as genocide, Turkey accepts that killings took place but rejects they constituted a genocide.

Israeli historians Benny Morris and Dror Ze’evi’s new book, "The Thirty Year Genocide," makes the even more striking claim that genocide was committed over a thirty year period between 1894 and 1924 against not only the Armenians but against all Ottoman Christian communities.

In an interview with Israeli newspaper Haaretz about the book, Morris quoted the book as saying that between 1.5 million and 2.5 million Christians were killed during this period, basing this figure on the work of Turkish, Armenian and Greek statisticians.

"Our conclusion that between 1.5 and 2.5 million Christians were murdered, from 1894 to 1924, is a cautious estimate," Morris said.

"(The) killing of two million Christians was effected through the calculated exhortation of the Turks to create a pure Muslim nation," the book's blurb on the website of its publisher, Harvard University Press, reads.

Morris says the founder of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, was responsible for "the liquidation of the last Armenians who remained in Turkey," as well as hundreds of thousands of Greek and Assyrian Christians.

Conquistadors and cannibals

Spanish conquistadors, women, children and horses were imprisoned for months, sacrificed and eaten by contemporaries of the Aztecs, archaeologists report after unveiling new research from ruins near Mexico City.

Although Spanish chroniclers including Hernán Cortés, who led the conquest of Mexico in 1520, recorded the capture of a convoy that year, archaeologists are for the first time uncovering details of what happened when a native people first encountered the Spanish, Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History said in an announcement of its findings.

Only a few dozen miles from the relative safety of the Spanish army, the convoy of conquistadors and allies encountered a local people known as the Acolhuas, allies of Tetzcoco, a major Aztec city.

Somehow, the caravan archaeologists estimate it included 15 Spaniards, 45 soldiers from the colonies, 50 women, 10 children and a large number of indigenous allies was captured. Over the next six months, its members met a grisly end.

Traces of construction show that the Acolhuas had to remake Zultepec, a town just east of the capital, then called Tenochtitlan, to accommodate the prisoners, archaeologist Enrique Martinez said in a statement.

The town was eventually renamed from Zultepec to Tecoaque, which in the native Nahuatl language means: "The place where they ate them."

Russian collusion? No, but how about the British?

In April last year, Disobedient Media broke coverage of the British involvement in the Trump-Russia collusion narrative, asking why All Russiagate Roads Lead To London, via the quasi-scholar Joseph Mifsud and others.

The issue was also raised by WikiLeaks’s Julian Assange, just days before the Ecuadorian government silenced him last March. Assange’s Twitter thread cited research by Chris Blackburn, who spoke with Disobedient Media on multiple occasions covering Joseph Mifsud’s ties to British intelligence figures and organizations, as well as his links to Hillary Clinton's Presidential campaign, the FBI, CIA and the private cyber-security firm Crowdstrike.

We return, now, to this issue and specifically the research of Chris Blackburn, to place the final nail in the coffin of the Trump-Russia collusion charade. Blackburn’s insights are incredible not only because they return us to the earliest reporting on the role of British intelligence figures in manufacturing the Trump-Russia collusion narrative, but because they also implicate members of Mueller’s investigation. What we are left with is an indication of collusion between factions of the US and UK intelligence community in fabricating evidence of Trump-Russia collusion: a scandal that would have rocked the legacy press to its core, if Western establishment-backed media had a spine.

In Disobedient Media's previous coverage of Blackburn’s work, he described his experience in intelligence:

"I’ve been involved in numerous investigations that involve counter-intelligence techniques in the past. I used to work for the 9/11 Families United to Bankrupt Terrorism, one of the biggest tort actions in American history. I helped build a profile of Osama bin Laden’s financial and political network, which was slightly different to the one that had been built by the CIA's Alec Station, a dedicated task force which was focused on Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda. Alec Station designed its profile to hunt Osama bin Laden and disrupt his network. I thought it was flawed. It had failed to take into account Osama’s historical links to Pakistan’s main political parties or that he was the figurehead for a couple of organizations, not just Al-Qaeda."

Elijah's gaffes

It’s been a few days since Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., the newly minted chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, got the star treatment from "60 Minutes" and still the untruths he uncorked have gone unchallenged.

The first unchallenged inaccuracy was the chairman’s announcement that he has the power to investigate anything. This is factually incorrect. Congress can only pursue information necessary to inform its legislative duties. Not once did Cummings mention any contemplated legislation. Voters elect legislators, not opposition researchers or public relations operatives.

Another untruth: Cummings gloated that he didn’t need to consult with Republicans before issuing subpoenas. Unless he plans to significantly change committee rules, however, consultation remains a requirement before dragging officials in for depositions. In fact, Cummings previously advocated for more than consultation and demanded that consent from the minority party be a requirement before issuing a subpoena. It would behoove Cummings to get his own story straight before he challenges others.

The chairman complained that he received zero documents from the Trump administration when he was the committee's ranking member. I personally know this isn’t true: While working at the Department of Homeland Security, I processed several responses to letters with Cummings' name on the signature line.

Most problematically, Cummings declared, without any evidence, the explosive charge that President Trump, who donates his salary, has made "a lot of money" on the job. This unfounded allegation by a 13-term congressman who has himself increased his net worth five-fold while in Congress went without any pushback. The fact that he plans on launching an investigation to prove something he already declares true also went unnoticed and unchallenged.

Globalists like NATO

In a rambling column celebrating the controversial North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen said that the alliance's military force was needed for use against opponents of the "rules-based international order." The bizarre screed comes as more and more people across the Western world and beyond turn against the globalist "world order" that von der Leyen says must be preserved, even by military force if need be. Among the most prominent critics has been the president of the United States of America, Donald Trump, who globalists claim is seeking to blow it all up.

The opinion piece, "The World Still Needs NATO" published in the far-left New York Times, offers a great deal of insight into the role globalists hope NATO will play in the emerging "world order" they are seeking to foist on humanity. For instance, NATO is not just a military alliance, but "a political alliance as well," von der Leyen admitted. But amid historic skepticism about the alliance expressed openly by President Trump and the millions of American voters who elected him, the pro-NATO propaganda smacks of desperation. In short, it seems NATO's future is uncertain at best. And globalists, apparently recognizing the threat to their dangerous agenda, have launched a full-blown public relations campaign to shore up support for the scheme.

Live and let live?

Our Constitution has long accommodated the reality that different communities have different ways of life. They want different rules, have distinct expectations, and each would feel the imposition of the rule of its neighbors as an intrusive affront.

This is not just the principle of federalism but the broader principle of liberty: we are each free to choose our destinies, worship God as we wish, maintain private spaces where we are free from government control, and, if we find a different manner of local rule congenial, we are free to set up voluntary associations and communities reflecting our priorities.

This worked reasonably well historically, but increasingly it has been limited by national rules, particularly those imposed in the name of protecting universal rights. The most salient example is the Civil War and, after that, the civil rights revolution.

Nonetheless, the default has been to "live and let live" and to recognize that the balance struck in any particular community might vary widely. Thus, the American system rests not only on classical liberalism, but a parallel principal of self-government.

The divergence of the desires and needs of the nation’s interior and those of the coastal ruling class has become more pronounced since the election of Trump. Even the "respectable" Democrats, exemplified by Hillary Clinton, have a barely concealed contempt for middle America. She, of course, infamously labeled Trump supporters a "basket of deplorables." But Obama himself earlier let the mask slip, dismissing religion and guns as a false consciousness, to which the working class "clings bitterly" as transferred aggression from their economic and social decline.

IRS Loophole: Millions Of Illegal Aliens Are Getting A Bigger Tax Refund Than You Are

This is not surprising given the nature of the tax system and history the Internal Revenue Service has with fraud and giving away millions, if not billions, to those who are illegally in the united States. However, in a nine-part series, investigative journalist Bob Segall of WTHR in Indiana exposed just how corrupt the IRS is and the massive amount of fraud that is going on in the system, especially with what is being termed "undocumented workers," and how US money is leaving the States to go into the hands of people who don't even live here.

The series first appeared in 2012, under the usurpation of Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Sobarkah.

The series is listed below with the video report beneath each description.

Journey into the mind of an abortionist

Self-described "Nasty Woman OB/Gyn" Dr. Leah Torres, an abortionist based in Salt Lake City, Utah, was in the news again recently, responding via Twitter to a pro-life individual’s tweet wondering what God thinks of Torres’ vocation killing pre-born babies.

"Everyone seems to assert they know what god thinks, so have at it," shot back Torres to Jake Highwell’s query concerning Torres’ occupation. Referring to the tragedy of miscarriage, Torres went on to brazenly charge that "God performs way more abortions than I do."

The pro-life outrage to Torres’ comment was overwhelming, with one respondent reminding Torres that "most miscarriages are because of an issue with the pregnancy/non viability," while "most abortions are viable pregnancies. But you know that."

Another pro-lifer responded to Torres: "Trying to decipher what God thinks can be difficult, but I’m reasonably certain he’s not offing children because they’ll get in the way of some exciting career opportunities."

Elites beginning to worry about the yellow vests

The gilets jaunes (yellow vest) movement has rattled the French establishment. For several months, crowds ranging from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands have been taking to the streets every weekend across the whole of France. They have had enormous success, extracting major concessions from the government. They continue to march.

Back in 2014, geographer Christopher Guilluy’s study of la France périphérique (peripheral France) caused a media sensation. It drew attention to the economic, cultural and political exclusion of the working classes, most of whom now live outside the major cities. It highlighted the conditions that would later give rise to the yellow-vest phenomenon. Guilluy has developed on these themes in his recent books, No Society and The Twilight of the Elite: Prosperity, the Periphery and the Future of France. spiked caught up with Guilluy to get his view on the causes and consequences of the yellow-vest movement.

spiked: What exactly do you mean by ‘peripheral France’?

Christophe Guilluy: ‘Peripheral France’ is about the geographic distribution of the working classes across France. Fifteen years ago, I noticed that the majority of working-class people actually live very far away from the major globalised cities far from Paris, Lyon and Toulouse, and also very far from London and New York.

Technically, our globalised economic model performs well. It produces a lot of wealth. But it doesn’t need the majority of the population to function. It has no real need for the manual workers, labourers and even small-business owners outside of the big cities. Paris creates enough wealth for the whole of France, and London does the same in Britain. But you cannot build a society around this. The gilets jaunes is a revolt of the working classes who live in these places.

Deepfake videos

Lawmakers and experts are sounding the alarm about "deepfakes," forged videos that look remarkably real, warning they will be the next phase in disinformation campaigns.

The manipulated videos make it difficult to distinguish between fact and fiction, as artificial intelligence technology produces fake content that looks increasingly real.

The issue has the attention of lawmakers from both parties on Capitol Hill.

"It is almost too late to sound the alarm before this technology is released it has been unleashed … and now we are playing a bit of defense," Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman Mark Warner (D-Va.) told The Hill.

Asked whether this is the next phase of disinformation campaigns, Warner replied "Absolutely."

Experts say it is only a matter of time before advances in artificial intelligence technology and the proliferation of those tools allow any online user to create deepfakes.

"It is regarded by political and technology experts as the next weapon in the disinformation warfare," Fabrice Pothier, senior advisor with the Transatlantic Commission on Election Integrity, told The Hill.

Zimbabwe is at a standstill

Zimbabwe is once again at the brink of economic collapse, making a mockery of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s claim that the country is open for business.

As Bloomberg reports, many shops and factories have shut their doors because of a lack of customers and those that continue to trade are open to haggling over prices to secure hard currency. At an appliance shop in the capital, Harare, a salesman whispers that a Whirlpool Corp. washing machine priced at about $5,000 if paid for electronically will sell for $1,500 in cash, while at a nearby electrical warehouse, a $600 invoice is whittled down to $145 for payment in dollar bills.

But, as's Tsvetana Paraskova reports, Zimbabwe is on a three-day nationwide strike and protests are erupting in the streets after the government of the southern African country doubled fuel prices, making gasoline sold in Zimbabwe the most expensive gasoline in the world.

We are now in our third day of complete shutdown throughout the whole of Zimbabwe.

Banks are closed, schools are closed, roads are closed in and out of the main towns and transport systems have shut down.

There are no newspapers to be bought, the Internet has been shut down by the government and everything is at a complete standstill.

Doctors + drug makers = opioid crisis

As efforts intensify to blunt the ongoing opioid crisis, a new study finds that increased marketing of the addictive painkillers to physicians was associated with more prescribing and, subsequently, more deaths from overdose. Interestingly, industry influence over physicians was greater based on the number of interactions, not the amount of money paid for speaking or the value of freebies, such as meals.

Between August 2013 and December 2015, drug makers made nearly 435,000 payments totaling $39.7 million to 67,500 doctors in 2,200 counties across the U.S. The payments were for meals, travel costs, speaking and consulting, but not research. And the data showed that the more marketing directed at physicians in a given county, the higher the number of overdoses, regardless of the money spent.

Specifically, in a county of 100,000 people, three additional payments to physicians were linked to 18 percent more prescription opioid deaths, according to the study, which was published Friday in JAMA Network Open. And one author, Dr. Scott Hadland, a pediatrician and adolescent addiction specialist at Boston Medical Center, noted previous research found more than 9 of every 10 marketing interactions with a doctor was for a meal, indicating drug makers spent relatively little money to win their attention.

Denmark's immigration policies

Denmark made international headlines in late November 2018, when the Danish government announced a plan to send certain asylum seekers to the small, uninhabited island of Lindholm. The international outrage was intensified when it came to light that the island currently houses a research center for contagious animal diseases; that the ferry which the asylum seekers will be able to take to the mainland during the day (it does not operate in the evening) is named "Virus"; and that the asylum center will be accompanied by a constant police presence on the island.

The group of asylum seekers meant to live in Lindholm consists of criminals of various sorts, including those who have been sentenced to be deported from Denmark, those who are considered a security threat to Denmark, and so-called "foreign warriors".

The asylum seekers, however, cannot be deported to their country of origin, either because those countries do not adhere to human rights conventions, (which Denmark has signed and by which it is therefore obligated) that prohibit the use of torture, so-called inhumane treatment and the death sentence, or simply because the country of origin refuses to take them back.

The island will undergo a comprehensive renovation, estimated to take nearly three years and to cost Danish taxpayers approximately 759 million Danish kroner (approximately $116 million). Until the renovation is completed, this group of asylum seekers will remain at their current housing facility, an asylum center known as Kaershovedgard, 6 kilometers from the nearest town of Bording. Kærshovedgård, a former prison, was established as an asylum center in 2016.

China's growth is slowing

China is expected to report on Monday that economic growth cooled to its slowest in 28 years in 2018 amid weakening domestic demand and bruising U.S. tariffs, adding pressure on Beijing to roll out more support measures to avert a sharper slowdown.

Growing signs of weakness in China which has generated nearly a third of global growth in the past decade are stoking worries about risks to the world economy and are weighing on profits for firms ranging from Apple to big carmakers.

Chinese policymakers have pledged more support for the economy this year to reduce the risk of massive job losses, but they have ruled out a "flood" of stimulus like that which Beijing has unleashed in the past, which quickly juiced growth rates but left a mountain of debt.

Analysts polled by Reuters expect the world's second-largest economy to have grown 6.4 percent in the October-December quarter from a year earlier, slowing from the previous quarter's 6.5 percent pace and matching levels last seen in early 2009 during the global financial crisis.

That could pull 2018 gross domestic product (GDP) growth to 6.6 percent, the lowest since 1990 and down from a revised 6.8 percent in 2017.

Child marriage

Naila Amin was only thirteen years old when she was married off to her Pakistani first cousin twice her age who beat and raped her. "He dragged me about twenty feet - the whole length of the house - by my hair," she relates. "He began kicking me in the head and it was so hard I saw stars."

She described how, "My mother would watch my husband and my father kick me together in the head."

Even though Nalia was a United States citizen, she was engaged to be married when she was eight years old. And at thirteen, her application to bring her rapist to the United States was approved by USCIS.

By the age of fifteen, she was being raped and beaten in Pakistan.

While Nalia is the youngest of the "child brides" in the Senate report, "How the U.S. Immigration System Encourages Child Marriages", the young abused American citizen is one of thousands of young girls who are either trafficked into this country or who are used to bring their older "husbands" to America.

Between 2007 and 2017, there were 8,686 petitions for spousal or fiancé visas for or on behalf of minors. And during that same period, 4,749 minors on spousal or fiancé visas got green cards. Even while the United States was claiming to fight sex trafficking in underage girls, our own immigration system was rewarding and promoting the sexual trafficking of girls as young as thirteen.

Suing Google

A well-known Republican San Francisco lawyer has filed a lawsuit against Google seeking to represent white, male, or conservative employees who believe the company has discriminated against them.

The lawyer is Harmeet Dhillon, a partner with the Dhillon Law Group in San Francisco and the former chairwoman of the Republican Party in San Francisco.

She has been on the hunt for such victims since she took on fired Google engineer James Damore as a client in August. And on Monday she presented the first fruits of her research in a 161-page complaint that's chock full of allegations and screenshots.

The most jaw-dropping allegation is that "Google publicly endorsed blacklists" of conservatives. The suit claims that several hiring managers publicly vowed not to hire people categorized as "hostile voices" aka conservatives.

For instance, one manager wrote on one internal forum, "I will never, ever hire/transfer you onto my team. Ever."

Another manager wrote in another, "I keep a written blacklist of people whom I will never allow on or near my team, based on how they view and treat their coworkers. That blacklist got a little longer today."

Petition to oust newly elected congresswoman

A petition to remove the newly elected House Representative Ilhan Abdullahi Omar was created by an anonymous person that goes by the initials C.M. on January 5th, 2019. C.M.’s objective is not only to have Abdllahi Omar removed from her congressional position but to also have her arrested after committing immigration fraud by marrying her own brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, in 2009 in order to give him U.S. citizenship. In 2011, Ilhan Abdullahi Omar married her current husband, Ahmed Hirsi, while still married to her brother. Ilhan Omar legally divorced her brother in December 2017.

Alpha News reported that the entire Omar family has a history of committing fraud, fraud that even precedes their infiltration of the refugee program to travel from their home country of Somalia to the U.K. and later the United States. The Wall Street Journal also published a relevant article in 2008 on the halt on the refugee program in Africa due to DNA tests proving that families had lied about their ties.

The link to the legal petition to remove the fraudulent congresswoman is provided below for those who wish to participate in keeping Washington D.C. clean from any new "swamp monsters". The petition will expire after 30 days and is required to have a minimum of 100,000 cyber signatures in order to be considered by Congress. The current number of signatures received is 6,817 as of today. At Populist Media, we encourage all of our dear patriots to stand up for our nation and sign the petition.

Abnormalities in the Trump probe

Former top FBI attorney James Baker admitted to House lawmakers in October last year that the investigation into alleged collusion between the Trump 2016 presidential campaign and Russia was riddled with abnormalities.

Confronted with a damning summary of abnormalities, bias, and omissions, which transpired during the investigation, Baker told Congress that the investigation indeed was "highly unusual."

"I had a jaundiced eye about everything, yes. I had skepticism about all this stuff. I was concerned about all of this. This whole situation was horrible, and it was novel and we were trying to figure out what to do, and it was highly unusual," Baker told lawmakers.

Members of the House judiciary and oversight committees conducted the interviews in an unclassified setting, with agency counsel present to ensure that classified information didn’t enter into the unclassified setting. The transcripts of the interviews have not been publicly released, but were obtained for this article.

Baker served as the FBI’s general counsel when the bureau investigated the Trump campaign and Hillary Clinton’s use of an unauthorized private email server. During two days of testimony on Oct. 3 and Oct. 18, he told lawmakers that he believed even toward the end of the Clinton investigation that she should have been charged over her "alarming, appalling" mishandling of classified information.
